Upon sending a Microsoft Teams meeting invitation, meeting details include a meeting link, audio conferencing number, conference ID, and other meeting information. Amongst this information, the user's default audio conferencing number is displayed along with the Find a local number link. The link allows meeting participants to join via audio conferencing using a different phone number than what is listed on the meeting invitation. If the user meets mostly with participants from a specific region, the default phone number displayed can be changed.
This article provides steps to change users' default audio conferencing call in number through Microsoft Teams admin center.
Step 1: Proceed to Users Tab
In Microsoft Teams admin center, proceed to Users tab along the left side of the window, or use this link: Users - Microsoft Teams admin center.
Step 2: Select User
Search for the user who requires a change in default audio conferencing call in number, and click on the user's name under the Display name column.
Step 3: Edit Audio Conferencing
Scroll to the bottom of the page, click Edit for the Audio conferencing section.
Step 4: Select Number(s)
Under Toll number and/or Toll-free number, as applicable, toggle to select the desired default audio conferencing call in number for this user. Once complete, click Apply.
Step 5: Confirmation
The following confirmations indicate the changes successfully saved.
Top Banner
A green banner will display at the top of the page with the following text - "Conferencing bridge provider has been updated for [User Display Name]."
User Page Information
Updated changes are reflected under the Audio conferencing section (from Step 3 above). In the example displayed in screenshot below, the Default conferencing toll phone number has been updated to +1 619..., a local phone number in San Diego, California, USA. In the same example as shown, Default conferencing toll-free phone number is not assigned.
If neither of the above confirmations is displayed, the changes did not go through. Confirm the administrator making changes has the correct permissions to perform the desired changes and that the associating features are enabled at the organization level for this Microsoft tenant.
