When users do not wish to see emails from specific senders or have received phishing emails, users can block the sender. Block sender feature will move unwanted emails and domains from the user's inbox to the Junk Email folder. Future emails received from the blocked sender will go directly to the Junk Email folder.
This article contains instructions on how to block senders in Microsoft Outlook for Windows desktop application, Mac desktop application, and web browser.
Outlook Desktop Application via Windows
Step 1: Select Email
Select an email from the sender who needs to be blocked.
Step 2: Select Junk
Proceed to the Home ribbon (top section of the Outlook application), and select Junk. If Junk option is not visible directly on the Home ribbon, click on the ellipsis icon (...) to reveal additional options, including Junk.
Step 3: Select Block Sender
Select Block Sender to send the selected email to the Junk Email folder.
Outlook Desktop Application via Mac
Step 1: Select Email
Select an email from the sender who needs to be blocked.
Step 2: Select Junk
Proceed to the Home ribbon (top section of the Outlook application), and select Junk. If Junk option is not visible directly on the Home ribbon, select Move to reveal additional options, including Junk.
Step 3: Select Junk
Select Junk to send the selected email to the Junk Email folder.
Outlook via Web Browser
Step 1: Select Email
Right-click on an email from the sender who needs to be blocked.
Step 2: Block Sender
Select Security options, then select Block. The Block option will send the selected email to the Junk Email folder.
