Can a user view another user's files?
Similar to a local desktop setup, files a user saves in shared folders or shared drives would be visible to others with permissions to access the same shared environment. On the other hand, files saved to the user's personal local space cannot be viewed by other users. On Purely Cloud Desktop, files saved on a user profile disk is equivalent to files saved on the user's local desktop that is not shared with others users.
Shared Drive
Files saved in shared drives are accessible to other users with access permissions to the same shared drives.
User Profile Disk
Each user will have a user profile disk to save and access personal files. User profile disk stores a user's data on a virtual disk that is dedicated to that specific user. When a user signs in to Purely Cloud Desktop, the user profile disk attaches to the user's profile. After the user finishes work and signs out, the user profile disk will detach and allow no one else to access any files in that user's assigned user profile disk.
Saving files in a user profile disk looks similar to how a user would save files on the user's local computer. Even though saved files are in a user profile disk, this virtual disk does not look any different than a local drive.
How to save or access files in a user profile disk
Step 1: File Explorer
Click on the Folder icon in the Taskbar to access File Explorer.
Step 2: This PC
On the left panel, click on This PC to view the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Local Disk
Within This PC, click on the Local Disk to view the drop-down menu.
Step 4: User Folder
Within Local Disk, click on the user folder which is labeled with a user's username. Files in the user folder will be saved and accessible when a user signs in to Purely Cloud Desktop. Users are welcome to organize and add more folders within the user folder. See example below of saved files within a user folder.
Note: Files saved in locations other than the user folder will be deleted after signing out of Purely Cloud Desktop. Please properly save files within the user folder.
